In Review > 2016

And just like, that another year has come and gone. 2016 was an amazing blur of life, business, adventure and learning.

Here are some highlights!

JAN: I busted out of the winter in Washington and met up with my Biz Besties for a week at a beach house in California. We spent the days together creating, visiting, dreaming and working alongside each other. It was with their support that I made the decision to quit my day job and take Your Ampersand Studio full time.

FEB: I took my first big trip to IKEA and my little yellow bug was stuffed to the rafters with new office furniture and supplies for my home office. Chris' sister and her fella came for a visit to see him in his play "Them Three" at Masquers.

MAR: I met my dear friend Kaelah at the halfway point between our houses (which just happened to be my mom's house) and spent a couple days together. We went in service, snuggled with Tucker, got addicted to playing a cat collection game on our phones, and tried some fun face masks. It was a lovely girls weekend and great memory.

APR: I scheduled a new brand photoshoot with my friend (and awesome photographer) Bre, and it led to a huge rebrand for Your Ampersand Studio and an addition of some new services and offerings. Chris and I saw Jeff Dunham live in Spokane and I got addicted to bullet journaling.

MAY: My grandpa passed away and the day of his funeral I fell down the stairs at my parent's house and sprained my right ankle. All of the month of May was spent off my feet and working from bed with my puppy companion.

JUNE: We went to the Convention in Penticton and had a party for my littlest sister Katrina's graduation from High School. Chris and I celebrated 9 years of marriage on the 22nd with a nice dinner out with my cousin Hannah and her family and we bought a new washing machine off Craigslist that was the best purchase we made all year.

JUL: This month was full of long service days, my first time doing cart witnessing and getting the best donuts at the shop in Quincy. I got to second shoot at a couple weddings (one with 102 degree temps!). We almost got new puppy, but it didn't work out.

AUG: My sister Katrina came to visit before her big year in Australia. We had fun driving all over in her Fiat with the top down and the music blasting. We puppy-sat a little poodle for a week, which Gibson loved, but Banjo hated!

SEPT: I housesat for my parents while they went on a big road trip. I took full advantage of their gorgeous front porch and hot tub and used my time alone to do my first Whole30. Once I got home Chris and I spent some time working on his photography.

OCT: Chris shot his very first engagement photoshoot and did awesome! I got my first SunBasket as I tried to continue eating Paleo in hopes of getting my IBS under control. I read a ton of ebooks this month too, like 'Present over Perfect' by Shauna Niequist. I ordered a new bright pink office chair from PB Teen and Banjo fell in love with it.

NOV: We did a big road trip together to visit a bunch of family members before the snow hit. We saw Chris' grandma, parents and sister on Whidbey Island, went up to Vancouver BC to see my Grandpa and Barb, then up over the mountains to see my parents in Summerland BC. We got to go to the meeting in the brand new (gorgeous) Kingdom Hall there. Then we headed south, through Omak and saw my other parents. It was an awesome trip and we had so much fun together. Road trips are one of our favorite ways to spend time together. I also got to share my love of bullet journaling with a couple blog posts and a free worksheet.

DEC: I did a maternity shoot and a photoshoot for Chris and his band. I started a new Instagram account for Gibson and Banjo...yes, I turned into one of "those" girls. ;) And I had way too much fun with all the new emojis. We got our studded snow tired put on just in time for the snow to come and stay.

What a great year! And I'm so excited for what is to come in 2017.
