3 Reasons Your Marketing is Struggling

Have you ever wondered where your dream clients are hiding? Have you ever questioned if your marketing is broken?

Maybe you’ve posted to Instagram every.single.day for a month just to hear crickets. Maybe you even committed to a 30-day Instagram Reels challenge thinking, “this time, the clients will come, right?”

Maybe you’ve sat down time and time again putting together yet another social media content plan that simply flops, wondering if it’s your business or your marketing that’s turning clients away.

Your answer isn’t the latest dance craze on Instagram Reels. Your ability to keep up with Gen-Z on Tik Tok is not the reason your marketing is struggling. So what is the reason?

3 Reasons Your Marketing is Struggling

Here’s the problem - you are consistent, but your brand isn’t. Every day you show up online re-creating the marketing wheel, following whatever inspiration you could muster after a long session of client work.

You craft graphics from scratch and stare at a blinking cursor when trying to write fresh content. Here are three reasons why your marketing is struggling - and it’s not because you aren’t dancing on Instagram Reels.

  1. Your personality isn’t showing. People want to know what it’s going to feel like working with you, and they want to know if they will mesh with you on a heart-to-heart level. Your content needs to consistently showcase your beautiful personality through your colors, visuals, graphics and words.

  2. No one remembers your brand when making decisions. If your dream clients can’t pick you out of a crowd of social media posts, they won’t be able to remember your brand when decision time comes. Your brand should be top of mind, standing out when they need to finally decide on a coach or service provider.

  3. You don’t have any guidelines for your brand. Your brand isn’t memorable because it’s not consistent. And it’s not consistent because you’re having to “wing it” every day, or you just pick whatever new template pops up on Canva. Your problem? You have no structure for how your brand shows up online.

Save Your Marketing with Brand Clarity Boards

I recently took myself through my own branding process, reshaping my entire brand from the name up. Creating a brand clarity board is the next step in my identity-led branding process, following this powerful exercise called the 5 Whys.

A brand clarity board showcases the visuals, colors, textures, patterns, fonts and personality that come together to create your brand. It truly captures the essence of your brand.

A brand clarity board acts as the guide for your brand and a benchmark for all the visual elements you create and share for your business.

It helps you make decisions when creating content, designing your website, crafting your content plan, and creating marketing materials like social media graphics.

And, yes, it can even help you make decisions about which viral Tik Tok trend to jump on - and which ones to avoid.

At the end of the day, your brand clarity board provides structure for how your brand interacts with your clients, community, and future clients online. Without a brand clarity board, your marketing will be inconsistent and not cohesive.

How Does a Brand Clarity Board Rescue Your Marketing?

A brand clarity board can revive and revitalize your marketing efforts, helping you consistently showcase your personality and voice online.

  • A brand clarity board helps inform your marketing strategy. When you have a clear understanding of your brand personality, voice, tone, and visuals you can begin crafting a marketing strategy that aligns with your identity.

  • A brand clarity board helps you speak consistently to your target audience. Your message and visuals will speak directly to your audience’s needs, desires, wants, and personality - attracting them to work with you!

  • A brand clarity board increases your brand potency and helps you stay top-of-mind at decision time. Your brand will be memorable, not forgettable!

When you have a brand clarity board you’ll have a strong foundation for visual inspiration when you need fresh, creative ideas for your marketing. You’ll be able to craft visuals and create a marketing message you are excited to share and put out in the world.

Take a Peek at My Own Brand Clarity Board

Brand clarity boards are a powerful step in my identity-led branding process because it represents a pivotal moment - the moment your words and ideas begin to take physical, visual shape.

Creating brand clarity boards is an intuitive, heartfelt process for me. It’s a crucial step in my identity-led branding process both for my clients and myself!

When it came to creating my own brand clarity board for Dawn & Delight, I knew I wanted to highlight one of my deepest core values - connection.

No matter how or where people interact with me and my brand - whether on zoom, on social, or as a client - I want them to immediately feel connected, supported and encouraged.

One thing I knew I would include in my Brand Clarity Board and in my logo was an ampersand. It’s my favorite visual representation of connection. In its definition, the ampersand means that the two linking pieces become part of each other. That’s what I hope for my brand - that it feels like a part of the journey for the success of other female entrepreneurs. Big sister vibes!

My goal is to inspire you, motivate you and give you the best tools to help you along your business journey. In the blog posts to come I’ll be giving more behind-the-scenes peeks into my design process as I share my own brand and website design journey.
